The Story Begins…
Whisperville looked like a cheerful town on the outside—colorful houses, smiling people, and giggling children. But deep inside, something wasn’t right.
Ten-year-old Timmy sat in his room, clutching his favorite toy robot.
Timmy (whispering): “Luna, I think something's wrong. My robot’s eye was glowing red last night… and now it’s gone!”
Luna (tail twitching): “Toys don’t walk away on their own, Timmy. Unless someone… or something takes them.”
Timmy jumped out of bed, tiptoed across the creaky wooden floor, and peeked out the window. Down the street, he saw the light on at Mr. Broomstick’s Toy Store.
Timmy: “It’s midnight. Why would his shop be open?”
Luna (growling): “Let’s find out.”
Midnight Visit
Sneaking through the night, Timmy and Luna reached the backdoor of the toy store.
Creak…
The door was slightly open. Inside, the air smelled like old plastic and something… burnt.
Suddenly, a shadow moved across the shelves!
Timmy (hushed): “Did you see that?”
Luna: “Yes. And I don’t like it.”
They tiptoed in. Toys were everywhere—some broken, others staring blankly into the dark. But something was odd: a corner of the shop had fresh footprints… small ones.
Timmy followed the prints to a hidden trapdoor behind the cash counter.
Luna (shivering): “I have a bad feeling about this…”
🔦 Secret Below
The trapdoor creaked as Timmy opened it. Below, a staircase led into pitch darkness.
He pulled out his pocket flashlight.
Click.
Timmy: “Whatever’s down there took my robot. I’m going in.”
Step by step, they descended into the unknown. The air grew colder. They reached a basement filled with strange machines, wires, and… hundreds of toys, lifeless, connected to a glowing red orb.
Luna (eyes wide): “That’s not a toy machine… That’s a power collector!”
Suddenly, a voice boomed.
???: “You shouldn’t have come here, Timmy.”
Out from the shadows stepped Mr. Broomstick, holding Timmy’s robot… but it looked different. Its eye was now completely red.
A Twist Revealed
Mr. Broomstick (smirking): “These toys aren’t just for fun. They store energy… fear energy.”
Timmy: “You’re stealing from kids!”
Mr. Broomstick: “Not stealing. Borrowing. Fear powers the town’s secret. Without it, Whisperville fades.”
Before Timmy could ask more, the floor rumbled. The red orb started pulsing rapidly.
Luna (yelling): “He’s overloading it!”
Mr. Broomstick: “You forced my hand. Now you’ll never leave!”
A secret door opened behind them. Luna leaped and pushed Timmy through it just before the room burst into blinding red light.
Cliffhanger
Timmy rolled down a dark tunnel and crashed into a pile of hay. He coughed and looked up…
…Right into the frightened face of Mayor Glum.
Timmy (panting): “You… knew about this?”
Mayor Glum: “It was never supposed to go this far…”
