Mother Force Her Daughter
It was a quiet evening in the small town of Devgarh, where people lived simple lives. But behind one ordinary house on the edge of the town, a chilling secret was about to be revealed — one that involved a mother, her young daughter, and a decision that would haunt them forever.
Anjali was only 16. Bright, curious, and full of dreams. She had just passed her board exams and wanted to go to the city for further studies. Her friends were all applying to colleges in Delhi and Mumbai. But her mother, Shanta Devi, had different plans — and they were not only unexpected but terrifying.
One evening, Anjali was excitedly talking about her college plans when her mother suddenly snapped.
“You’re not going anywhere,” Shanta said firmly. “Tomorrow, you’re marrying Ravi.”
Anjali laughed, thinking it was a joke. But her mother’s face didn’t flinch. That night, Anjali cried, screamed, begged — but nothing changed her mother’s mind.
Why would a loving mother force her daughter into a marriage she never wanted?
The next morning, Anjali was dressed in a red bridal saree. The rituals began. Neighbors gathered. Everyone seemed to know — except Anjali — that this was already decided.
But just before the final ritual, Anjali ran.
She ran into the nearby forest, hoping to find some place to hide. Hours passed. The sun went down. The forest grew darker. And then she saw it — a broken-down house, hidden between thick trees. She ran inside.
And what she saw inside changed her understanding of everything.
Photos… old, torn photographs of women… girls… some crying, some bruised… and one that shook her to the core — her mother’s photograph, looking just as scared as she felt now.
Anjali was stunned. What was this place? Why was her mother’s photo here?
Suddenly, she heard a noise behind her — footsteps. She turned around to find her mother, breathless and teary-eyed.
“Now you know,” Shanta whispered.
Shanta slowly revealed the truth — 22 years ago, she too had been forced to marry a man she didn’t know. This same house was where she was brought after her wedding — abused, beaten, and left voiceless. Her husband, a local criminal, used to run a secret human trafficking ring, and this house was where many girls disappeared forever.
“I escaped… but I was pregnant with you,” Shanta said, holding Anjali’s hand tightly. “I raised you with love, gave you everything… but then Ravi came back. He threatened to destroy us both if I didn’t give you to him.”
“So you were trying to protect me… by marrying me off to him?” Anjali asked, her voice trembling.
“I thought… maybe if I gave him what he wanted, he’d leave you alone. But I couldn’t do it. That’s why I followed you. We need to run now.”
Together, they burned down the house — and with it, all the ghosts of the past.
The next day, the town woke up to a shocking fire in the woods. No one saw Shanta or Anjali again. Rumors said they died in the fire. Others believed they had escaped to another city, hiding under new names.
But one thing was clear — a mother’s love had pushed her to the edge. And in that edge, she found the courage to fight the devil she once ran from.
Sometimes, the only way to save your child… is to face the monster you once escaped.
